Frequently Asked Questions

Is the course recorded? Can I buy recordings or resources without attending?

Our course is designed as a live, interactive two-day event, with opportunities to ask questions, discuss cases and take part in group exercises. We strongly recommend attending both days to get the most from it.

We record selected sessions so eligible delegates can revisit the teaching afterwards. Not every session is recorded, and recordings cannot capture all the discussion and interactive elements.

We do not offer recordings-only or resources-only access to people who do not attend the live course. This also applies if you have attended a previous course or have missed the booking dates.

What if I cannot attend the whole course?

We understand that study leave, work, childcare, health or other practical circumstances can sometimes make full attendance difficult.

If this affects you, please contact us before booking, or as soon as your circumstances change. Tell us which day or parts of each day you expect to attend live. This helps us give you a useful answer about the arrangements we can offer.

Where we agree an arrangement for partial attendance, you will be able to access the available recordings and resources for the sessions you miss. We ask you to attend as much as you reasonably can live. The course fee remains the same.

Can I join from another country or time zone?

Yes, we welcome delegates from outside the UK, and people have previously joined us from countries including Australia, Canada, and India.

Course timings are given in UK local time: GMT in winter and British Summer Time (BST, GMT+1) in summer. Please check the time difference for the actual course dates.

If the time difference makes full attendance difficult, contact us with your city or time zone and the hours you could join live on each day. We can then discuss a practical arrangement with you. Please agree this with us before booking rather than assuming the course can be taken entirely through recordings.

When will the course resources and recordings be available?

We usually email your personal resources login during the week before the course. The portal is built up as the course takes place, so receiving your login does not mean every handout or recording is already available.

Handouts and other resources are added during the course. Recordings require processing and uploading, so they may become available later; please do not rely on being able to watch a missed session immediately or on the same day.

Access continues until one week after the next sitting of the SCE, at which point the portal is closed and your resources access ends. You are welcome to save downloadable handouts and notes for your own personal use before the portal closes, but we cannot reactivate logins after this time. We ask that you do not download videos. Please do not share your login or course materials with others. 

I haven’t received my joining links or resources login. What should I check?

Your Zoom joining links and your personal resources login are separate emails. The links for Day 1 and Day 2 are also sent separately.

The joining link and final instructions for Day 1 (including any preparatory work) is normally emailed approximately one week before the course starts, and again 24–48 hours beforehand. The link for Day 2 is sent after Day 1 ends. Resources logins are usually sent during the week before the course.

Please check:

• Your junk or spam folder.
• The email address you used on the registration form.
• Any different email address you used when making payment.

If the relevant email is overdue, contact us with your booking name and the email addresses you used. Please say whether you are missing the Day 1 link, Day 2 link, resources login, or more than one of these.

I have my resources login, but something isn’t working. What should I do?

Try copying and pasting your username and password directly from the login email, taking care not to include spaces before or after either.

If you can log in but a particular resource is unavailable, check whether it is still awaiting release. Not all resources appear at the start of the course.

Please note that if the resources portal is closed, your login will no longer work. We cannot reactivate logins for past delegates once the portal has closed. 2026 delegates retain resources access until 23/09/26 when the portal closes.

If you still cannot get access, or a resource link displays an error, email us with the page or resource title and the exact error message. A screenshot can help. We will need to investigate account-specific problems or broken links.

Are flashcards included in the course, and how are they delivered?

The Pallmedpro SCE Flashcards are a separate purchase from the course. They are a digital product which can be used only with the Flashcard Hero app, rather than printed cards or a PDF.

Before purchasing, please check the supported devices and app requirements on our Flashcards page and install the appropriate app.

Your deck is delivered to the email address used during payment, normally within 48 hours. It is not delivered through your course resources login.

If your purchase has not arrived after 48 hours, check your junk folder and the email account used at checkout. If you still cannot find it, contact us with your order number, purchase date and payment email address. Please tell us whether you purchased a full deck or an update, and whether you can still access that email account.

Are your Flashcards available on Android or in other formats?

Our flashcards are not available on Android unfortunately. The developer of Flashcard Hero (the software we use for our flashcards) is working on something new, so watch this space. At the present time however, our flashcards need to run in Flashcard Hero app, which is only available on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Windows. The flashcards are not available in other formats (like PDF) or print versions. We apologise for the inconvenience.

What do I need for the course?

You’ll need an internet-connected device with a microphone AND a camera with Zoom already installed to join the course. We recommend joining from a desktop or laptop computer, and using the Zoom app (rather than trying to access through the browser version of Zoom). Although it is possible to join via a tablet, you may miss out on some interactive elements of the course, and your experience might not be the same.

What about internet?

A stable and fast internet connection is always a good idea. We won’t be able to help resolve connectivity issues arising at your end, and your internet connection is your responsibility. Hospital and hospice education centres may have a room or device you could borrow if you’re concerned.

Can others join me on my Zoom device?

Provided they have registered and paid for a place on the course, you’re welcome to have more than one person sharing a webcam. Our web host will be checking registration details, so please let us know if you plan to share a device with friends or colleagues.

Can you recommend any other revision resources or things to help me prepare and revise for the SCE in Palliative Medicine?

Our SCE Revision Course and its associated material is the most comprehensive resource we offer. The SCE Revision Flashcards (for the Flashcard Hero app) are really helpful either alongside the course, or if you can't make it to the course itself. We also recommend Oxford Case Histories in Palliative Medicine as a curriculum-mapped textbook resource (not affiliated with Pallmedpro). Beyond these resources, StudyPRN offer a Palliative Medicine question bank for a fee, and the Royal College website has a small set of practice exam questions which can be accessed for free.
